SPS Self-Propelled System

Our drive system allows the operator in the crow’s nest platform of the truck to propel the truck while on track, without the need to be in the cab of the truck. The operator has the control of releasing the air brake, engaging the air brake, accelerating the truck and decelerating the truck. This is geared for a work mode with a max range of speed to be around 5 MPH. The system works by engaging a roller wheel by pressing it into the front tandem tire. As the operator increases or decreases the hydraulic flow to the drive roller, the truck will speed up or slow down.
